Some time ago, a 1,500-year-old Bible was discovered in Turkey.
The discovery caused concern from the Vatican because this Old Bible contains the Gospel of Barnabas, which was erased by the Catholic Church during the Council of Nicaea.
Barnabas was one of Christ’s disciples, originally named Joseph or Josiah. He was born in Cyprus, and his parents were wealthy Jews from the Levite priestly tribe. Together with the Apostle Paul, he preached the word of God in many cities of Asia Minor, and Barnabas maintained a vision of Christ similar to that of Islam.
When was Discovered?
The Old Bible was discovered back in 2000 but was kept secret in the Ethnographic Museum in Ankara, according to blogzaserioznihora. It is made of treated leather, with pages blackened by time, and the texts in it are written in one of the Aramaic dialects – the language Christ spoke. According to reports from experts who studied and evaluated the book, it is an original Bible from 1,500 years ago.
The religious authorities of Iran insist that the text in the book confirms that Jesus was not crucified and was not the Son of God, but an ordinary prophet, and that he called the Apostle Paul a “deceiver.” Old Bible also claims that Jesus ascended to heaven alive, without being crucified, and that Judas Iscariot was crucified in his place.
The Old Bible also contained a text in which Jesus foretells the coming of the Prophet Muhammad, who founded Islam 700 years after Christ. The text also predicted the arrival of the final Islamic messiah – an event that has not yet occurred.
The Vatican and The Old Bible
The Vatican expressed concern over the discovery of the book and requested that Turkish authorities appoint experts from the Catholic Church to evaluate its contents. It is believed that the Catholic Church decided which gospels would be part of the Bible and which would be erased during the Council of Nicaea. The Gospel of Barnabas was among those erased.
It is also believed that there are other erased gospels, known as the Dead Sea Gospels or the Dead Sea Scrolls.
