What is Karma?According to metaphysics, many of the things that happen to us in this life are the result of bad or good karma accumulated in this or a past reincarnation. During his lifetime, the great philosopher and spiritual teacher Petar Dunov ( Beinsa Douno) gave some guidance in this regard.
According to Dunov, karma represents all debts and sins “recorded in the Divine Book.”
Once, he compared karma to a tree in front of his students:
“Imagine that near the roots of a large oak tree, you plant a small flower or plant. How do you think this flower will grow? – The flower will not grow well. Why will it not thrive? In a short time, the flower will wither because the oak tree will absorb all the nutrients from the soil, as well as the sunlight, leaving almost nothing for the flower. Therefore, you must keep in mind that the old man within you, along with all old views and understandings of science and life, represents a large tree like the oak. And if you do not move away from the roots of this tree, no matter what work you undertake, you will not succeed.”
Here are some karmic pieces of advice from Petar Dunov:
1. God gives, God takes away.
“Use the wealth that God has given you. With it, you can immediately repay your karma and become perfect. If you don’t use your wealth wisely, you will fall under another law and increase your karma…
Every person, when dying, feels that everything is lost. Go to a dying man and ask him: ‘Are you satisfied with your life?’ What will he say? – ‘If only God would give me my life back, I would live differently.’ We keep arranging our lives, but life remains unresolved. No, life for the student is arranged! What must happen is determined. This is not a restriction of your will, because everything happens according to the law of karma. A poor man who does not know you comes and asks you for a thousand leva as a loan.
This person, in a previous existence, took you into his home and lent you ten thousand leva, but you kept the money and disappeared without repaying him. A thousand years pass, and he comes to ask you for it. If you calculate it with interest, how much should you pay? He asks for a thousand leva, but you say: ‘I don’t recognize this debt.'”
2. The Power of Love.
“Karma is resolved only through Love… The law of reincarnation is a law for the redemption and liberation of a person from the mistakes of the past. By this same law, the human mind and heart are born and reborn.”
New times, new conditions, a new life are coming. For whom? – For good people. Only good and loving people have a future. Only they have good conditions. For bad people and those who live without love, there is no future, no good conditions. This is a law that you will experience yourselves. Whoever wants to soften their fate and escape the law of karma must voluntarily apply Love, not forcefully. Love frees a person from all difficulties and sufferings, from all contradictions and delusions. It is enough for the caterpillar to transform into a butterfly to be freed from its difficulties. The butterfly feeds on clean, beautiful food. Therefore, apply Love and move forward.”
3. Negative Thoughts.
“How can a person be healed? – By freeing themselves from all negative thoughts in their mind and all negative feelings in their heart… An absolutely healthy person is free from the law of negative suggestion, from all karmic ties. They have untied themselves thanks to the law of Love and the law of Truth. It is said that Truth sets you free, and Love resurrects you…”
“In every thought, every feeling, and every action, give an account of your relationship with God, with your neighbor, and with yourself. Conduct an inner analysis of everything that passes through you. This analysis is necessary for yourself, not for others. As for the Beings who watch over a person’s karma, they are not interested in your analysis. They only observe all your external and internal manifestations and record them, noting down your present and future life. Your present and past life determine your future life. These Beings are very strict. They miss nothing from your life, roll out the tape of your past lives, develop it, and in the smallest details review the forms you have passed through. They follow your actions and determine the conditions of your future life. Now is the time to settle your karma.”
4. Peace.
“The only power with which we can free ourselves from human karma is peace… Modern people must work on their self-education, as well as on educating the young, but in a new way. The karma of modern people is vast and heavy, accumulated over thousands of years and must be dealt with. In this situation, it is ridiculous when someone threatens others, trying to show who they are and what they can do. What can you do? You have a thousand promissory notes worth thousands of leva to pay! Pay those first, and then show what you can do.”
5. Liberation through the Power of Words.
“Now you are settling your karma. Know that you are in the final phase of your karma. This has matured now, and the sooner, the better for you. Any delay is already bad. The Bulgarian saying goes: ‘Cut it short.’ Some say: ‘Let’s go live in the forests.’ Monks have gone to the forests before, that was a way of strengthening themselves. Now there is nowhere to run. Even those who go into the forests will return among people.”
